P2O – the crowdfunding platform for academic monographs
P2O was launched with the community and for the community. The project enables open access for academic books, integrated into libraries' acquisition processes.
Missing Link founded Transform to Open GmbH together with the company Dietmar Dreier and with Detlef Büttner, Philipp Neie, Bertram Salzmann and Karin Werner to bring P2O to life.
For 35 years Missing Link has worked closely and in trust with academic libraries and publishers at every level of acquisitions, for 25 of them increasingly in the digital field. We have long supported open access projects such as “Read and Publish” by The Company of Biologists and Bristol UP, among others, as well as Knowledge Unlatched, Mohr Siebeck and several more. It was therefore a natural step to offer an open access format that fits into the shared world of acquisitions and combines it with OA crowdfunding.
Enabling open access together through acquisitions
P2O is an innovative, collective funding model that enables libraries to make individual publications open access together. Cross-publisher acquisition of relevant academic monographs is combined with everyone's participation in academic research and teaching.

- simple integration into your acquisition workflows
- integration into our approval plans and new-title services
